DOUG TEAGUE, TREASURER: Doug moved to the neighborhood with his wife, Del in the early 1970s in search of an inexpensive location to be used for living, band rehearsal space, and a to set up a woodworking shop. Doug and Del were thrown into community activism in the early 80s in an effort to improve the area surrounding their home from increasing criminal activity created when pressures by the city to “clean up” the Bowery pushed it onto their doorstep. They joined the Peoples Firehouse’s (PFI) Action Committee where they were reassured “You will fight this. We will show you how and we will help”.  PFI worked with the Teague’s for 5 years and finally prevailed. Doug currently has his own medical imaging business and serves on the board of PFI.
